The Soaked Sofa Studio has been the home of The Dirty Unkuls and Luke Adair and the Big Bills for the last few years.

Recognitions

Then, after a reunion at the South Texas Rockfest in Boerne, 4 high school friends decided to get together and record some music like they used to play in the 1980s.  At this time, the studio was minimal and we hardly knew how to input a click track.  The Dirty Unkuls (look at the DU website to find the story behind the name) were able to turn out four of their chosen cover tunes and it sounded surprisingly well.

The drummer of the Dirty Unkuls also had an actual gigging band called Luke Adair and the Big Bills.  After a few Dirty Unkuls sessions they decided to start the recording of an EP at the studio.  "Turn To Gold" was released and hit iTunes shortly thereafter.  The studio continued to build.  Every session there was something else that was noticed as "if we only had this" - so additions continued to be made.

Over the years the home studio was denoted a name (another funny story, you can probably  guess...) and has moved from the Digi002 to a fully equipped Pro Tools studio.  Our knowledge of the processes of tracking, mixing and mastering have improved through a heavy dose of trial / error, educational books, and tons of youtube videos.

In 2014, the album "In From the Outside" received recognition at the Texas Music Awards taking the Producer of the Year award.  "In From the Outside" was the second Luke Adair and the Big Bills cd recorded in the Soaked Sofa Studio.

The Soaked Sofa studio started about 10 years ago with the purchase of a Yamaha Motif ES8, a Digidesign 002, a copy of Pro Tools and a very strong interest to learn how to digitally record music. The Dirty Unkuls have since released 10 singles and the quality of the recordings coming out of the Soaked Sofa Studio have reached a point that we are comfortable promoting services.  This was even further confirmed when the latest Luke Adair and the Big Bills cd "In From the Outside" took home The Producer of the Year award at the 2014 Texas Music Awards.
